Rockets No. 1 position strength has not decreased but increased? Mr. 50 million takes the lead, and the four substitutes have made Uduka feel at ease

Many people are worried about the depth of the Rockets' point guard position in the new season. In fact, the Rockets do not need to worry about the point guard position now. Although the Rockets had three point guards last season: Van Vreet, Shepard, and a double-season defender Jaylen Green. Uduka also let Jaylen Green take the initiative to hold the ball in his hand from time to time, allowing him to attack in series. At that time, Jaylen Green's performance in the point guard position was not bad. He sent more than 5 assists in many games, becoming a very reliable defender outside of Van Vreet of the Rockets.

But with Jaylen Green's departure, the Rockets' nominal point guard is only three left. Apart from the new veteran Van Villet who signed a two-year 50 million contract, taking the lead, neither Shepard nor another veteran Aaron Holiday is particularly reassuring.

Although Shepard was the No. 3 pick last season, he was not adapted to the intensity of the NBA - in the Development League, he was able to become the player of the week, but in the NBA, it was difficult for him to compete with veteran Holiday. Last season, Holiday's appearance order was before Shepard, becoming Van Vreet's first substitute; and according to the arrangements in the new season, Shepard will replace Holiday as the Rockets' second point guard, and Holiday will become the Rockets' third point guard. Once Van Vreet and Shepard are injured and missed, Holiday can completely take it.

It seems that the Rockets' No. 1 strength has dropped a lot compared to last season. After all, losing Jaylen Green, the Rockets lacked a fast and talented dual-athlete defender, but in fact, this position does not need to be worried about. Because NBA famous reporter William Galley analyzed that the Rockets are actually not playing enough points in the point guard position.

Van Vliott was an All-Star and one of the best defenders in the Rockets' playoffs last season; and Shepard has the strength, he just needs to realize his talent and potential. As long as he is given more playing time next season, this will inevitably be achieved. Holiday can actually enter the rotation lineup when he goes to other teams, but the Rockets' lineup is too strong now, so he has to rank third point guard, but Holiday can defend, with a three-point shooting percentage of up to 40%. He is also a very powerful substitute point guard.

With these three point guards, plus Amen Thompson and Tate who can serve as point guards, it can only be said that the Rockets' No. 1 strength has not declined but increased, and is not weaker than last season. With Shepard being valued, once his ball quotient and talent are stimulated, the Rockets' No. 1 position will have one more ball-holding core next season. In addition to Mr. 50 million, Van Variett took the lead as the starting lineup, the four substitute point guards of Holiday, Shepard, Tate, and Amen Thompson also made Uduka very at ease.

It seems that the Rockets have insufficient staff in the point guard position, but in fact, there are quite a few players among the Rockets who can be competent for point guards; plus center Alperen Shinkyung, who can sort out the offense in the inside, the Rockets are not worried that no one can send a wonderful pass next season.
