Jazz General Manager Justin Zanik was interviewed by reporters, in which he talked about Cody Williams, Isaiah Collier and Keyonte George.
When talking about Williams, Zanick said: His basketball IQ is very high, he can appear in the right position most of the time, and he also has a good understanding of the situation of the game. We have long known that his physical condition needs to be further improved, and therefore, he will spend more time growing than other players who are more mature in their bodies. Although his performance in some aspects is not ideal, these setbacks have in turn strengthened the direction he needs to improve this summer. Whether it’s strength training or game rhythm adaptation, with this experience, I believe he will make progress this offseason.
When talking about Collier, Zanick said: The point guard position is an extremely challenging position, especially for a 20-year-old young player, but Collier proved early on his strong control over the game situation. He knew very clearly on the court when to speed up and when to keep pace, and he was able to tell which teammates were in the best form and who needed to find a sense of the ball.
When talking about George, Zanick continued: He has always been the player who has created highlights for the team over the past two seasons. Although there will be some doubts about George's offensive efficiency, it is largely related to the role we have put him on this young team. The combination of partnering with Collier in the backcourt substitute has indeed improved his efficiency and his performance on the offensive end. This summer is crucial for him, whether it is adjusting based on feedback from the coaching staff or optimizing shooting options, this will continue to have a positive impact on him.
In the NBA regular season this season, Williams played 50 games in 82 games, averaging 21.2 minutes per game, averaging 4.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.3 blocks, and 0.9 turnovers and 1.9 fouls. His shooting percentage was 32.3%, a three-point shooting percentage of 25.9%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 72.5%. In the NBA regular season this season, Collier made a total of 71 appearances in 82 games, averaging 25.9 minutes per game, averaging 8.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.2 blocks, and 2.9 turnovers and 2.1 fouls. He shot 42.2%, three-point shooting percentage 24.9%, and free throw shooting percentage 68.2%. In the NBA regular season this season, George played 67 games in 82 games, averaging 31.5 minutes per game, averaging 16.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.1 blocks, and 2.7 turnovers and 1.7 fouls. He shot 39.1%, three-point shooting percentage 34.3%, and free throw shooting percentage 81.8%. Among the three young players, Collier's performance is actually quite good. He has also shown certain breakthrough ability. His performance in passing and organizing offense is also highlighted. George's scoring ability is indeed quite good, and he also has certain passing ability and organizational ability, but he does have obvious problems in shooting choices. As for Williams, his performance was really terrible and could be said to have no advantage at all. I wonder what breakthroughs and improvements these three players will have this summer. Can the Jazz improve their performance next season?
