Bob Santos says Mario Barrios must make adjustments for the future

at the T-Mobile Sports Center last month (July 19). Mario Barrios, who had just finished the game, hugged the WBC welterweight world boxing champion gold belt tightly in his arms - this was his second consecutive game to keep his title of world boxing champion by a draw. The last time was against Abel Ramos, this time the opponent was 46-year-old Manny Pacquiao.

The audience cheered for the Philippine Legend one-sidedly, but there was a subtle difference in the referee's score: in the first 9 rounds, the three referees awarded the lead to both sides, with the largest gap of only 1 point. The turning point appears before the bell rings in the 10th round. Coach Bob Santos pressed Mario Barrios on the stool, and his words made the audience burst into noise: "If you don't want to lose, you can grab all the remaining 3 rounds!"

Bob Santos restored the 30-second "life-help dialogue" after the game -

"I told him that when the ringtone rang, he would be behind 0-2 and he had to play with the mentality of KO. As a result, he really chewed all the last 9 minutes."

Data will not lie: In the 10th-12th round, Mario Barrios' punches surged from an average of 42 times/round to 57 times;

, while Manny Pacquiao's hit rate dropped by 12%, and his leg movement slowed down significantly;

In the last 30 seconds, Mario Barrios hit Manny Pacquiao's chin with a hook on the upper right, and a "wow" sound broke out in the audience, and the referee raised 10-9 at the same time.

Bob Santos also mentioned that there was a strange phenomenon in the game: Mario Barrios would express his respects with punches almost every time the game was interrupted; while Manny Pacquiao kept indicating that his opponent had a low hit.

"Manny Parquiao is 'part-time referee' based on his own experience." Bob Santos said with a wry smile, "I reminded him not to punch again, and do not release any hints to the referee, so as not to mistakenly think that we are timid in our hearts."

After this draw, Mario Barrios' professional record became 29 wins, 2 losses and 2 draws, and 18 KOs of his opponents won; while Manny Parquiao's professional record became 62 wins, 8 losses and 3 draws, and 39 KOs of his opponents won. Neither of them talked about the second match after the game, but this seemed to be on the agenda, because Bob Santos had given his disciple a "death order":

"The first thing to go back to the training hall - to discard the 'fist' move to me." Bob Santos emphasized.
