June 7 The Daily Telegraph reported that despite leading the team to break the championship drought for many years, Tottenham chairman Levi still ruthlessly fired the team coach Postkoglu. Tottenham is currently formulating specific terms to fire Postkoglu, and club staff learned about Levi's decision on Friday afternoon local time.
Although Postkoglu led Tottenham to win its first trophy since 2008 and a European trophy in 41 years, Levi still made the decision to change coaches, which is probably the most cruel decision Levi has made since taking over Tottenham. Postkoglu fulfilled his promise, not only succeeding in his performance, but also changing the style of the team and promoting young players.
Postkoglu started his holiday after winning the UEFA Champions League, and he knew nothing about his future for more than a week, and in this case Levi could face criticism. Despite Tottenham winning the Europa League, they ranked only 17th in the league, which ultimately led to the dismissal of Aobo, despite his squad suffering from a serious injury blow.
Levi is now under tremendous pressure to appoint a head coach with abilities above Postkoglu. Thomas Frank of Brentford and Marco Silva of Fulham are the main candidates. The former has never led the team to win important trophys and has no experience in coaching in Europe. The latter has led Olympiacos to win the Greek League championship and led the team to the Champions League.
Although many Tottenham fans have expected Levi to fire Postkoglu, the UEFA Champions League victory has excited players and fans, and many have changed their views on the Australian coach. At the moment, Levi ignored people's positive emotions, which may trigger strong opposition.
It is understood that Tottenham needs to pay a 4 million pounds termination fee to Postkoglu. In addition, since winning the UEFA Cup and qualifying for the Champions League next season, Tottenham needs to pay it a 2 million pounds bonus.
