The Timberwolves beat the Warriors in Game 2 on Thursday night, with Chris Finch tied the team's playoff record. Chris Finch made history in Game 2 of the 2025 NBA Playoff Western Conference Semi-Finals, the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Golden State Warriors 117-93.
With this victory, Finch won the 17th playoff game of his coaching career. According to The Athletic's Aaron Griman, he tied the team's victory record held by late Timberwolves head coach Philip Sanders.
Sanders led the Minnesota Timberwolves to create the first glorious period in team history. Between 1995 and 2005, he coached, the team made eight playoffs under Kevin Garnett and reached the Western Conference Finals in 2004. Chris Finch and the Timberwolves' next plan is an extraordinary achievement for Chris Finch, especially considering the tremendous success Philip Sanders had at the beginning of the team.
Finch has been the head coach of the Timberwolves since 2021, leading the Timberwolves to the playoffs four consecutive times. Last year, the Minnesota Timberwolves returned to the Western Conference Finals with their best record since 2004, and Anthony Edwards played a major role in the playoffs.
This year, they strive to get to the next level and reach the NBA Finals for the first time in history. They eliminated the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round and strived to defeat the Warriors in the Western Conference semifinals to return to the Western Conference Finals for the second straight year.
In Game 2, the Minnesota Timberwolves had five players scoring in double digits. Edwards scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. He made 6 of 13 shots in the game, including 2 of 4 three-pointers and 6 of 8 free throws. Following closely behind is Nikil Alexander Walker, with 20 points and 3 assists; Jaden McDaniels scored 16 points; Naz Reid scored 11 points and 5 assists.
Timberwolves strive to get a 2-1 lead in the series when they faced the Warriors in Game 3. The competition will be held on May 10 at 8:30 pm ET.
