Trent Alexander Arnold explains why he left Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold revealed that he had seriously considered renewing his contract with Liverpool, but after 20 years at his childhood club, he finally decided to make a "change" and find a "new challenge".

The Liverpool-born full-back spent his youth in the gaps in the club's Old Melwood training ground to see his childhood idol. Alexander Arnold still lives in the house on the corner of Liverpool's base when he won all the major honors in the first team. However, despite deep-rooted feelings for everything Liverpool Football Club, Alexander Arnold confirmed his decision to let his contract expire in June.

"I have been giving everything day after day for 20 years and now I feel like I need change, and as a player and an individual, I need a new challenge," the 26-year-old told the club's official website. "I think now is the right time for me to do this."

Speculation surrounding Alexander Arnold's future has been widespread throughout the season. After months of back and forth, numerous reports in March claimed that the England international decided to join Real Madrid after his stay at Liverpool.

Alexander Arnold will not be drawn to determine his next destination, but he does explain why he chose Monday, May 5 as the time to officially announce his resignation. "I know many people will say I should say it earlier, and many people will say maybe I have waited for the right time." But I personally think that the focus should always be on the court and on football forever.

"When we struggle to win the trophy in the championship battle, the key is to make the right decision for the team, try not to distract the team and influence everything we do on the court." For me, I always do it after the season is over; rather than the last game, it is when there is no other really playable.

Alexander Arnold won his second Premier League title at Liverpool, a 5-1 victory over Tottenham last weekend confirmed this. Since there are no other cup games to play, the right-back felt that it was "time to take things out of my chest and tell the fans the truth."

When Alexander Arnold left Liverpool at his peak, fans strongly opposed it. Proud Scother admits that “this news will disappoint a lot of people, will anger people, and will upset them”, but stresses how “hard” it is. “I will always love this club, I will always love the people of the club, I will always love the fans and supporters,” Alexander Arnold concluded. "Even if I leave as a player, as a fan, I will always be a Liverpool fan."
