September 23, TA reported that the rental market around Liverpool's Anfield Stadium is very hot, especially on match days.
TA said that the short-term rental market, driven by football tourism, is reshaping this traditional working-class community with unprecedented depth and breadth. Even in a normal period without games, there are 31 properties to choose from in a small block on the northwest side of the stadium alone.
On the other street opposite the stadium, this phenomenon is even more extreme. As many as 8 of the 32 houses are listed for rent online, which means 25% of the housing on the entire street has been transformed into short-term rentals.
The huge commercial interests are the main driving force behind this craze. Rents here are amazingly high, for example, a 10-bedroom townhouse on Anfield Road, even on a regular Monday night without competition, can be as high as £938 a night.
