Hupu News on October 29th LaLiga issued a statement on the recent judgment of the Madrid Provincial Court on the "European Super League (Superliga)", expressing its respect for the ruling and emphasizing that the judgment did not approve or support any specific event format, nor did it involve the Super League project initially announced in 2021 and later modified by the sponsor.
The statement pointed out that the court's decision focused only on procedural issues and clearly stipulated that the authorization system must be based on transparent, objective and reviewable standards, without making any judgment on the substance or feasibility of alternative plans for the event.
LaLiga reiterated its firm position in the statement:
- Maintaining the integrity and stability of domestic leagues, which is the cornerstone of European football and its economic and social sustainability.
- Comply with EU competition rules and ensure that procedures are open, fair, non-discriminatory and in the public interest of the entire football ecosystem.
-Continue to maintain dialogue with various institutions and clubs to ensure that any innovation or reform proposals do not damage the value chain of the league, fans and the sports industry.
LaLiga President Javier Tebas stated: "This verdict in no way means an endorsement of the Super League or any other competition format. It only reiterates that the application of the rules must be transparent and fair. We will continue to defend the European football model based on competitive results, solidarity and mutual assistance and the sustainability of domestic competitions. Any respect for this Proposals based on these principles will be carefully analyzed, but we will not make a blank check for projects that endanger the balance of football."
LaLiga finally stated that it will continue to cooperate with relevant authorities and industry parties to establish an objective and robust evaluation mechanism to ensure the legal safety and industry stability of clubs, fans and business partners.
