May 23rd Modric confirmed that he would bid farewell to Real Madrid after the Club World Cup. According to the Spanish media Ass, Modric hopes to use the transition club as a springboard to participate in the 2026 US-Canada-Mexico World Cup and jointly forge history with Croatia.

As said that wearing Croatian robe to compete in the 2026 US-Canada-Mexico World Cup is the driving force for Modric to seek a new boss and fight for another year. Modric has been called up for the national team again and currently maintains a record of 186 international games.

After confirming that he will bid farewell to Real Madrid after the Club World Cup, Modric's next plan is to find a new club to maintain a competitive state and strive for the 2026 World Cup, which is his core goal at this stage. As a well-deserved legend in Croatia, Modric is eager to make history through his fifth World Cup journey in his career. Previously, Modric has participated in four World Cups: the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Croatia failed to advance to the 2010 South Africa World Cup, and Modric was unfortunately absent. In September, Modric is about to turn 40. Modric has always maintained his persistence in the national team's shirt. He has completed 186 international games and scored 27 goals. The World Cup journey is about to begin, and the Croatia team is about to kick off the qualifiers.

Croatia will fight Gibraltar for the first time on June 6 local time, and then face the Czech Republic on the 9th. Modric was selected into the roster without any suspense. Its qualifying group match opponents also include Montenegro and the Faroe Islands. A total of eight key battles will determine whether they can get tickets to the World Cup as they wish, which may become Modric's fifth World Cup journey.

To welcome the World Cup jointly held in the United States, Mexico and Canada a year later, Modric has a variety of options to find a transition club. Saudi Arabia has always maintained a strong interest in it, and the MAF is also an ideal adaptation platform. Even the possibility of returning to the motherland to join the parent team Dynamo Zagreb was not ruled out. The final decision is in Modric's hands.
