Slaughter: Sorbo s performance is understandable; the Premier League tolerates set-pieces far more than the European war

Hupu reported on November 7 that Liverpool head coach Slott attended the pre-match press conference against Manchester City.

[Gossip Board] Slott: I like Guardiola’s team. The style is what fans want to see and it doesn’t waste time.

Do you think that after regaining momentum, Liverpool’s midfielder should regain its previous functional combination, such as Gravenberch’s positioning?

I don't think the focus should be on our three midfielders. It's true that due to injuries and other reasons, I can't always play them at the same time.

It's not just midfielder, so I need Szoboszlai to play other positions. It would help the team if my players could play together more.

I could list all kinds of reasons to explain the performance of this game, but it would be boring. People would say I was making excuses for losing.

Two good games and then, of course I have to mention, maybe I'm the only one who thinks this, but I feel this way, I liked our performance against Manchester United better than the game against Villa, but I liked the result against Villa better. We created more chances in open play.

How important do you think Szoboszlai is?

He has been outstanding all season.

Dominic has many strengths, one of which is his running without the ball. I like every game of his, but his performance in the last two games may have exceeded his own expectations.

For me, there are indeed other reasons, but I am willing to be a smart person and understand everything. You all understand it, so I don’t want to repeat it again and again.

Do you understand?

The reporters burst into laughter.

Haha, so his performance in the last two games may have exceeded his own expectations.

Do you think Robertson’s return to the starting lineup proves that he is still young?

He has performed very well in the last three games. I was happy to see him play almost 90 minutes in the last game. Playing three games in seven days is not easy.

It helps every player if the team plays their best, and I think we've done that in recent days. He is calm on the ball and plays good defense.

Do you think his age is a problem?

Looking at Van Dijk, Salah and Robertson, being over 30 doesn't mean much - all three of them won the Premier League last season and all played an important role. If a 23-year-old player performs poorly, no one will talk about age, but if a 32-year-old player performs well, people will talk about age.

In my opinion, 32 is not too old for a football player.

Have you talked to Salah and asked him to return to defense? Or is he autonomous and spontaneous?

I also noticed this and it helped the team a lot because in the past the focus was on scoring goals.

It is important for Salah to score goals, but what is more important is that he must contribute one goal and one assist and help the team on the defensive end just like he did in Manchester City last season, and this is exactly his recent performance.

Will Alisson/Frimpong return after the international break?

Alisson will definitely come back. But I don’t expect Frimpong to be fully recovered yet, so he probably won’t be able to play at Nottingham Forest.

Do you think set-pieces are completely different things in European competitions and the Premier League?

There is indeed a difference. The difference is that the Premier League is far more tolerant of set kicks than the European War. It has little to do with Liverpool scoring set kicks in the European War but not being able to score in the Premier League.

If you ask me, the intensity of physical confrontation in the Premier League is different. You see taller players and no other league puts as much emphasis on set pieces as the Premier League.

For us, the difference may be that we have bad luck in the Premier League and better luck in the Champions League. We created some similar scoring chances in the Premier League and just missed them.

If we could maintain the balance of offense and defense in set-piece attacks like we do in the Champions League, we would not be 7 points behind Arsenal now. We conceded five goals and didn't score a single one - not counting Szoboszlai's goal.
