August 1 The Sun reported that a former Premier League star made a profit of £15 million by selling his shares in the health beverage company.

Former Welsh international and West Brom forward Hal Robson Canu claimed that turmeric drinks helped him overcome injuries and thus founded the brand The TurmericCo. He praised the Ginger family as his secret weapon, saying it saved his football career.

Now, the company he founded, sells a 50.01% majority stake to AGBarr, a well-known Scottish beverage company, for £15 million. Robson-Cannu praised the efficacy of turmeric and revealed that the cruciate ligament rupture encountered in adolescence is through it to heal. After recovering from injury, he founded two brands: The TurmericCo. and RawHydrate. These best-selling drinks have been sold at Sainsbury's supermarket, Ocado fresh food platform and David Lloyd sports clubs throughout the UK. To maintain the love between football, Everton and Brentford have also introduced the product.

In addition to football, the brand has also reached cooperation with the British rugby team and the British Gymnastics Association. Robson Canu has played 46 times for Wales and scored in the historic battle of eliminating Belgium 3-1 in the 2016 European Cup, helping the team to enter the semi-finals.

The former Premier League player said: "I founded this brand to provide convenient and delicious nutritional support to health-conscious people and athletes like me. The past few years have achieved remarkable results, but this major cooperation has just begun our journey, which marks the beginning of a new stage. The international market has great potential and we look forward to creating more possibilities in the future."

AGBarr stated that this investment is "in line with the company's acquisition and innovation strategy in the field of high-growth, healthy functional beverages". The funds come from the company's net cash reserves and are not expected to have a significant impact on revenue or profits this fiscal year.

In 2023, Robson Canu jointly promoted turmeric drinks with Sainsbury 's Supermarket and became a supermarket employee in advertising. At this time, he was only two years after he retired. Earlier that year, he revealed his original intention of starting a business to the Reading Chronicle. After joining the Reading youth training camp at the age of 15, he suffered two major injuries and needed surgical treatment. The team doctor asserted that his knee would be permanently accompanied by pain and limited movement.

After the prescription painkiller had side effects, the former Welsh international turned to natural therapy: "At that time, my father and I were frantically looking up information to study how to relieve pain and inflammation in natural ways. We searched library and online information and found the recurring natural ingredients in ancient Asian medicine - watermelon, pomegranate, pineapple, ginger and turmeric in their original form."

He emphasized the key role of raw food ingredients in recovery, and finally developed a gold formula rich in nutrients with his father. Although the taste is poor in the early stages, it has been improved to become a drink that can provide real energy enhancement. After long-term drinking, the knee pain and inflammation gradually subside, and finally the full mobility is restored.
