Lehmann: Bayern are more dominant than the unbeaten Gunners, but the Gunners have the advantage on Wednesday

Hupu November 24th Jens Lehmann is a legend of Arsenal Club. In a recent interview with Munich Daily News, the former world-class goalkeeper talked about the Champions League showdown against Bayern Munich.
TZ: Mr. Lehmann, you were the backbone of the Arsenal team in 2004. The team remained unbeaten throughout the season and went down in history. Do you think this is similar to Bayern Munich now? Bayern remains unbeaten this season.
Leimann: Bayern is more dominant now than it was then. No one was talking about going an entire season undefeated at the time, but one thing was important to me: I wanted to be a champion. I didn't expect us to go undefeated in the process, it's never happened before. I believe Bayern Munich can do the same.
TZ: What is Bayern Munich’s biggest advantage?
Lehmann: People often say that very strong teams have no major weaknesses. I had a similar feeling in my first year at Arsenal, we were always very energetic.
TZ: What do you think were their weaknesses in the past?
Lehmann: Last year you would have thought they didn't quite know how to defend against very strong teams, but that's where they improved. You will see improvement in the big games of the Champions League. Bayern also acquired the defender Tha in the summer, and with the players they already have in the lineup, I feel like they are getting better.
TZ: Let's look at the offensive end. New winger Luis Dias will be suspended for the game against Arsenal.
Lehmann: I thought he was great at Liverpool, and now I like him again. With Sane, you never really knew over the last few years if he was going to give it his all. I think he is a great player, but there must be a reason why Bayern are willing to give up on him. Diaz has a South American attitude, which I like. Missing a man who scored two goals against PSG - the current Champions League champions - is weakening.
TZ: In the frontcourt, Bayern is currently performing very well, especially led by star forward Harry Kane. How scared are Arsenal of him?
Lehmann: In Bayern, many players can score goals, which is also their advantage. I believe Harry Kane is respectable for an Arsenal defender and vice versa. It's a high-level comparison, but Arsenal currently have the strongest defense in the world. It won't be easy for him to score.
TZ: Arsenal and Bayern have won all four Champions League games. What kind of game are you looking forward to?
Lehmann: Two of the strongest teams in the world are currently facing off, both currently playing in the top leagues. I'll be at the stadium and I'm looking forward to seeing how both teams perform at different moments of the game. I expect the game to be very close.
TZ: Will Arsenal defeat Bayern?
Lehmann: Bayern performed very well away from home in Paris. But if they wanted to press Arsenal like this, the Londoners would play a little differently. This is where it gets interesting. It's Arsenal's home game so I think they have a slight advantage.
TZ: Arsenal are undefeated in only one of their last five games against Bayern.
Lehmann: Arsenal is really a mess in this regard.
TZ: The Gunners spent 293.5 million euros on new stars last summer. Is the money well invested?
Lyman: That's why they're under pressure. It's been worth it so far, but it's just a phase. Much like Bayern's strong run this season, both teams have performed extremely well so far. But if they're still that successful in May, it'll be great for both of them.
TZ: Arsenal have been dreaming of winning the championship for many years. Can this really work out under head coach Mike Arteta?
Lehmann: It is also important to understand the coach’s personality. Championships are won by bravery. In the past, Arsenal have often started strong and promised something, but in the end Arteta's side have never been able to deliver on that promise as they haven't won anything. If it happened again, that wouldn't be good. This season, the competition in the Premier League is not ideal. I hope Arsenal can win the title again after so many years, that would be great.
