Xintian: Volunteer education comes to your doorstep to light up the "football dream" of rural teenagers

In Xintian County, 10 college student volunteers selected by Hunan University of Science and Technology went to 10 rural schools to carry out two-month football teaching activities. The football style has also spread from the "vast stadium" to the "fields and mountains."

Every day, Ma Jin, a teaching volunteer at Zhishiping Central Primary School in Dapingtang Town, guides students to practice ball on the court. From basic football skills training to the cultivation of teamwork; from the inheritance of sportsmanship to the establishment of rule awareness, Ma Jin teaches very carefully, and the children learn very seriously.

"Football training is tiring, but the children never complain. In the past half month of contact with them, I can feel their love for football." Ma Jin is a member of the "Xiang Super League" Yongzhou team. He has served as the president of the Hunan University of Science and Technology Student Football Association and the referee of the football match of the 4th Primary and Secondary School Games in Yongzhou City. He represented the school and won the 2025 Lingling District Amateur Football League Championship. He was overjoyed to see the energetic figures of the children chasing each other on the green field. "After playing a ball, the children can find their own happiness and confidence in sports, and gain a healthy body and tenacity."

The school has specially set up a football team, and the captain Xie Yuxuan is an out-and-out young fan. He once led the school to take sixth place in the Xintian County Station League of the Hunan Division of the Yao Foundation Beautiful Countryside Football Season. Xie Yuxuan's parents work abroad all year round. He lives with his grandfather and rarely has formal football training, so he especially cherishes this opportunity to learn.

"Playing football makes me happy. I hope to become an outstanding star and become the pride of my parents." Xie Yuxuan said that it is his dream to go out of the mountains and play football on a bigger stadium.

The 2025 "Yongzhou Rural Hope Football" public welfare project was jointly initiated by the Yongzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Yongzhou Youth Working Committee, the Yongzhou Youth Foundation, the Physical Education College of Hunan University of Science and Technology, and the Xintian County Committee of the Communist Youth League.

In recent years, Xintian County has regarded youth campus football projects as an important carrier to further promote quality education. By strengthening campus football education and training, strengthening football infrastructure construction, and taking multiple measures to "kick" football into the campus, it has promoted the vigorous development of campus football.

"A football match will be held with other township primary schools in two months to test the children's training results." Ma Jin said that the children hid behind the teacher and remained silent from the beginning, but became cheerful, enthusiastic and not shy; they went from having no idea about football to really liking the sport.
