The Clippers laid off 3 people in a row + made 1 regular! The 14+3 lineup for the new season is released: How far can the oldest team in history go?

On October 19, according to Clippers reporter Law Murray, the Clippers waived Jason Preston, Patrick Baldwin II and Taytay Washington II, while converting Jamal Telford into a two-way contract player. Telford will fill the Clippers' vacant two-way contract spot. The spot was vacated four days ago after the team waived Trentin Flowers. Previous reports stated that the average age of the Clippers' lineup this season is 33.2 years old, making it the oldest lineup in NBA history. How far can they go?

Telford was not selected in the NBA draft after graduating from Butler University in June. As an overage senior in the 2024-25 season, he averaged 16.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, and subsequently became eligible for the draft. The 2.01-meter-tall forward represented the Clippers in the summer league in July. In 5 games in Las Vegas, he averaged 12.3 minutes per game, averaging 3.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Telford participated in the Clippers' 3 preseason games and scored a total of 9 points in about 29 minutes of playing time. But the team ultimately decided to keep him instead of Preston, Baldwin and Washington - all three of whom have NBA experience and all hold Exhibit 10 contracts. According to Murray's additional report, Telford has impressed the team in recent weeks with his football intelligence, defensive enthusiasm, versatility and tough performance.

If Preston, Baldwin and Washington report to the San Diego Clippers (the Clippers' G-League team) this fall and play for the team for at least 60 days, each will be eligible to receive a bonus worth $85,300.

The Clippers' current salary is very close to the hard salary cap and cannot start the new season with a full lineup. After the above operations are completed, the Clippers will have 14 standard contracts and 3 two-way contracts.

The details of the Clippers' 14+3 lineup are as follows -

14 players with standard contracts: Leonard, Harden, Collins, Zubac, Bogdan, Jones Jr., Lopez, Batum, Dunn, Beal, Niederhauser, Kobe Brown, Paul, Cam Christie

3 players with two-way contracts: Jordan Miller, Sanders, Telford
