The Houston Rockets are actively operating recently, hoping to strengthen their backcourt strength. They have offered Celtic defender Derek White a two-year, $44 million offer to try to bring in the championship-level defender, according to league sources.

White performed well with the Celtics last season, with a three-point shooting percentage of 41%, and a steady defense, which is an important puzzle for the team to win the championship. Rockets management believes that his shooting ability and game experience can help the team's young core grow, especially to form a better chemistry with players such as Alperen Shinkyung. The core players of the Rockets also expressed support for the potential deal. Kevin Durant has previously expressed his willingness to adjust the salary structure to create conditions for the team to sign up. Fred VanVleet, who just renewed his contract, also publicly praised White's ability, believing that his joining can enhance the team's competitiveness.

Celtics have not yet made a decision. White plays a key role in the team’s rotation, letting him go may affect the depth of the lineup. But the Rockets' offer is quite attractive, and the Celtics management needs to weigh whether it matches or seeks a deal.

If the deal is reached, the Rockets' lineup will be more threatening, and White will have the opportunity to play a more important role in Houston. At present, negotiations are still in progress and the final result will be clear in the next few days.
