Hays League has the third place in the transaction!

2:13am, 5 July 2025Basketball

On July 4, center free agent Jaxson Hayes has agreed to sign a new one-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to ESPN sources. It is reported that the contract is expected to be a year's basic salary. Lakers reporter Trevor Lane further pointed out that Hayes signed with the Lakers this will be his third one-year contract and he will have a trade veto. Trevor Lane also clarified that the veto of the transaction is not limited to Hayes, and any player who has signed three or more contracts in a row with the team will receive this right in subsequent contracts. This is because players have "bird rights" after the contract is over. Once traded, the "bird rights" will be lost, so players can protect their "bird rights" by exercising the trade veto.

Last season, Hayes served as the Lakers' starting center, shooting percentage reaching a career-high 72.2%. Among players involved in at least 250 layups and dunk defenses, he limited his opponents to the top 10 shooting percentage. Throughout the season, Hayes missed 26 games due to injury, participated in 56 games, averaged 19.5 minutes per game, contributing 6.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1 assist, 0.6 steals and 0.9 blocks, 0.8 turnovers and 2.4 fouls. In the playoffs, he played only 4 times, and his average time was reduced to 7.8 minutes. His data dropped to 1.8 points, 2 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.3 blocks, 0.3 turnovers and 2 fouls. In the series where the Lakers lost 1-4 to the Timberwolves, Hayes started the first four games, with no more than 10 minutes in each game and did not participate in the fifth game.

■The Heat want to trade with the Lakers, and the Lions speak out

According to Jovan Buha, the conditions proposed by the Heat and the Lakers during negotiations on the Andrew Wiggins trade include a first-round draft pick, Dalton Kneckett and Hachimura. Heat self-media Heat Nation commented that if the news is true, the Heat's efforts to acquire potential young players are gratifying. But the question is whether the Lakers accept this offer. The author believes that the Lakers are unlikely to accept it because the offer is not cost-effective for the Lakers. The author suggests that if the Heat give up Kennector or first-round draft picks and exchange Wiggins with Hachimura Base or Hachimura Base and Kennector, the Lakers may be convinced that the deal may be successful. Wiggins was traded from the Golden State Warriors to the Heat in a major mid-term deal last season. After joining, he played 17 times for the Heat in the regular season, averaging 32.1 minutes per game, contributing 19 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.2 steals and 1 block, with 2.5 turnovers and 1.8 fouls, with shooting, three-pointers and free throw shooting percentages of 45.8%, 36%, and 73.1%, respectively. He played 4 times in the playoffs, averaging 30.6 minutes per game, scoring 11.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.2 steals and 1.2 blocks, and had 2.8 turnovers and 1.5 fouls. His shooting percentages, three-pointers and free throws were 37.2%, 35%, and 70% respectively.

Wigkins' performance after joining the Heat was OK, but his performance in the playoffs was a disaster and he failed to show his due talent. Wiggins' trading value is obviously not high at present. If the Lakers pay for him, Kneckett, who is equivalent to a first-round draft pick, plus a first-round draft pick and a qualified starter Hachimura Shizuo, this will undoubtedly be unfavorable to the Lakers. Heat Nation's analysis is relatively clear. If Hachimura plus first-round draft pick or Hachimura plus Kneckett's offer can attract the Heat management, then the deal may be reached. Next, it depends on whether the two teams will start in-depth negotiations on this.
