A year of high and low opening! The Cavaliers offseason focus is to help Mobley upgrade

As the Cavaliers general manager, Kobe Altman knows that people will expect from this team at the beginning of next season.

The Cavaliers played the regular season record of the first in the Eastern Conference this season, and were eliminated by the Pacers in the second round of the playoffs. Altman said the most important goal of the offseason is to make sure the entire team is mentally and physically ready for next season to be seen as a top team.

"I think everyone should agree that before the start of this season, no one will regard us as the number one seed, no one will predict that we will win 64. Because we played so well, people finally started to imagine the finals. I think everyone here has seen the potential for championship in us, which means we have come to a new level." Altman said, "We have raised people's expectations, and now we have to adapt to all of this. I think this is where we want to be, and where everyone hopes to continue in the playoffs next year. We want to change the trend of the story and prove that we have overcome difficulties."

The Cavaliers have steadily improved over the past four years and have finally become the strongest Cavaliers in the post-James era. Mitchell, Mobley, Garland and Allen formed a stable core group, and the Cavaliers won 16 more games this season after the arrival of the coach of the year Kenny Atkinson. But they are far from completing the mission, and the Cavaliers need to pass the second round of the playoffs.

This summer, the Knights have not had a wealth of space for operation. Their backup guard Jerome will be a full free agent and Altman said the team is interested in signing him again. Since the total salary will exceed the second rich line, the Cavaliers' way to strengthen the bench is very limited, but the team boss did not restrict him in terms of financial expenditure.

Mitchell is the most brilliant Cavaliers player in the playoffs, but if this team wants to go further, what it needs may be for Mobley to continue to transform. He was elected the best defensive player this season, averaging 18.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, and scored at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in 9 single games. Mobley's evolution has improved the Cavaliers' overall combat power, and at the same time, it has also turned his upcoming contract into a super top salary. This means that Mobley needs to perform better next season to match his contract value.

"How far our team can go depends on how much Evan Mobley can grow. We have had a conversation with him, and in the playoffs, we need him to do more." Altman said, "We need him to shoot more than 13 times in one game, which is the next goal for Evan. To achieve all this, Atkinson will develop a new offseason plan, and we are excited about it. We will see the internal growth of the team, and we think the team already has one of the best big men in the league."
