Manchester United goalkeeper encounters obstacles for strengthening! Villa priced at 40 million against Martinez and refused to propose loan

Manchester United's pursuit of Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez this summer was set - their loan proposal was flatly rejected by Villa. If they want to sign the World Cup champion goalkeeper, they will have to pay at least £40 million. This price tag has put the Red Devils' goalkeeper reinforcement plan in the dilemma of "cost-performance ratio trade-offs".

Manchester United proposed to Villa on loan to Martinez on the weekend, but was immediately rejected. The Daily Mail confirmed that Villa priced the 32-year-old goalkeeper for £40 million and made it clear that "the core player will not be sold at a low price." Martinez was Villa's absolute main player last season, with 38 appearances in the league and 13 clean sheets, helping the team stay in the middle of the Premier League.

It is worth noting that Martinez himself showed a strong interest in joining Manchester United - although the Red Devils have no European game to play next season, Old Trafford's influence and championship potential are still attractive. After Villa's last home game at the end of last season, Martinez was emotional and interpreted as a "signal of possible departure", but Villa's tough attitude became the biggest obstacle.

Andre Onana's stability is the core reason why Manchester United is eager to strengthen the goalkeeper. The Cameroonian goalkeeper made frequent mistakes last season and is currently racing against time - he needs to recover from a hamstring injury before his first match against Arsenal on August 17. If Onana's condition cannot be guaranteed, the Red Devils must make up for the position urgently.

In addition to Martinez, Manchester United also turned their target to Real Antwerp's Senne Lamons. The 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper is worth £17 million, which is more cost-effective, and has performed well last season in the AFC (18 clean sheets). However, Ramens lacks experience in the Premier League, and there is a clear gap between Martinez's "immediate combat power".

For Manchester United, £40 million is required to sign goalkeepers: £133.5 million has been spent this summer (71 million Mbemo + 62.5 million Cunha) and players such as Anthony and Garnacho need to be sold to recover funds. If Martinez pays 40 million, it may squeeze the budget for other key positions such as defensive midfielders and centers.

But from a competitive perspective, Martinez's stability is exactly what Manchester United need - his save response (78.3% success rate of Premier League save last season) and ability to command the defense, far better than Onana and substitute Baindill. Villa also knew this well, so he insisted that 40 million people would not let go, and even prepared to "stay the team for another year."
