According to ESPN Australia-based journalist Olgun Uluc, agent Deirunas Visockas told him that the Washington Wizards had signed with Australian inside player Akoldah Gak, who received a training camp contract with Exhibit 10 clauses. It seems that Garke also has the opportunity to win himself the opportunity to stay in the team through training camp and preseason.
Gak was born in July 2002 and is 23 years old, 211cm tall and weighs 91kg. He is the undraft in the 2022 NBA Draft. Garke has been playing in the NBL field until last season. In the first half of last season, he played for the Australian NBL team Cairns Taipan Snake. He played 21 games in the NBL field, averaging 19.5 minutes per game, averaging 6.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.2 steals and 0.6 blocks, and 1 turnover and 1.9 fouls. He shot 51.5% from the field, 8.3% from three-point shooting percentage and 58.3% from free throws. In February last year, Garke joined the captain of the NBA Development League team Mexico City, and he has been playing in the NBA Development League since then. In the NBA Development League, Garke played 12 games in total, averaging 19.3 minutes per game, averaging 4.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.2 steals, and 0.8 blocks. He also had 1.9 turnovers and 2.9 fouls. His shooting percentage was 42.9%, his three-point shooting percentage was 25%, and his free throw shooting percentage was 70%.
Garke previously represented the Wizards in the NBA Summer League. He played 3 games in the summer league, averaging 16.8 minutes per game, averaging 4.7 points, 4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 0.3 steals, 0.3 turnovers and 1.3 fouls, with a shooting percentage of 45.5% and a free throw percentage of 50%. Garke's performance in the NBA Development League last season and the previous NBA Summer League were actually very average. His performance did not have many highlights, and his role on the court was relatively limited. Obviously, although he has a very good physical talent and has huge potential to explore, his current strength is relatively average, and his maturity seems to be relatively limited.
With Garke's ability and performance, we can basically be sure that he should have a hard time having the chance to stay with the Wizards after the start of the regular season. According to the latest CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) rules, if Garke is cut by the Wizards next, and he will be able to go from the Wizards to a reward of up to $85,300 after the start of the NBA regular season in the new season and be able to stay in the team for 60 days next season, he will be able to go from the Wizards to a maximum of $85,300. I don’t know what kind of performance he will perform in the NBA Development League next season.
