The Rockets welcome Augustine back, he and Durant have a close relationship

Last November, 2008 first-round pick DJ Augustine announced her retirement decision on her personal social media.

Although Augustine is not a top star in the league, she has played in the NBA for a long time and her total career salary has reached $64.95 million. Augustine once received an annual salary of $7 million in the Magic and Rockets. He is not short of money, but he doesn't want to just lie down. Augustine wanted to return to the NBA as a new identity, and the Rockets decided to give the old player a chance, just like Gerald Green back then.

Gerard Green is known as the son of Houston and is deeply loved by local fans. Gerald Green got a job from the Rockets after retirement, where he worked as a player development coach. However, Gerald Green couldn't stay idle, and his physical condition was in good condition. Later, he decided to return to join the Development League Vipers, and then joined the BIG3 league to play.

Houston reporter Kelly Eco confirmed that the Rockets welcomed Augustine back and he would join the team's management.

Augustine has not played for the Rockets for a long time, and he has only played 54 games for Houston. Augustine, who was at the end of his career, taught the Rockets young players experience and won the favor of general manager Stone.

Augustine once revealed when playing in the Rockets that his family has always lived in Houston and he has always dreamed of playing for this team. Congratulations to Augustine on finding a job close to home.

Some Rockets fans hope that Augustine can give Shepard a good guide. Augustine was also favored by many NBA scouts back then. He was selected as the Best Player of the Year by the Houston Chronicle in high school and was also selected as the Best First Team in Houston. After entering university, Augustine also had a lot of honors, attracting the attention of many NBA scouts. He participated in the draft the same as Eric Gordon and was selected in No. 9.

As a small defender who is only 1.8 meters tall, Augustine naturally has his own unique skills to be able to play in the league for so long. Although he struggles on the defensive end, he can contribute to the team on the offensive end. Augustine has a high ball service, strong ball control ability, pass vision, and good three-point shooting.

Shepard's performance on the defensive end in the rookie season could not satisfy Uduka, and he eventually fell out of the rotation lineup. Shepard needs to strengthen ball-holding and physical confrontation during the offseason to strive to impress Uduka and win playing time.

Augustine played at the University of Texas before entering the NBA, and he and Durant were close. Durant was once a supernova at Texas University. He entered the NBA as the No. 2 pick in 2007 and has been rumored to have sex with the Rockets recently. Seeing Augustine joining, some Rockets fans speculated: Is he here to help the Rockets recruit Durant?

Sports Illustrated previously stated that many players in the league are eager to play for Uduka, and he has worked with Durant.

Durant once publicly praised Uduka: he treats players equally, and whether you are a league superstar or a role player, he will point out the problem directly, which is the precious trait of top coaches.

Houston media "spacecityscoop" said that considering Durant's age and potential injuries, the Rockets are unwilling to give him too much bargaining chips. If Durant can be obtained at a relatively small price, the Rockets are worth a try.
