Rockets sign former Celtics star

8:00pm, 27 July 2025Basketball

The Rockets signed two two-way contract players on July 27: Isaiah Crawford and JD Davidson, the Rockets' three two-way contract quotas are full, and the three two-way contract players are Kevin Harris, Crawford and Davidson. This is completely different from the four signed by the Lakers. The Lakers have signed 4 players in a row. These signings are non-guaranteed training camp contracts. This type of contract allows the team to inspect players during the offseason and preseason. The two-way contract provides a chance to enter the NBA league for players who are out of the NBA draft. Players who sign two-way contracts can follow the team to train and play no more than 50 games in the NBA regular season

New signing player: Crawford: He was the 2024 undraft. He is now 23 years old and played for the Kings last season, averaging 0.9 points per game; Davidson: He is the 53rd overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He spent the first three years with the Boston Celtics. He is now 22 years old and played for the Celtics in the past three years. He averaged 2.1 points per game last season. Outstanding performance in the G League, he won the G League MVP, and averaged 34.7 points and 13.3 assists per game in the playoffs. He played in 36 games in his career, with an average of 1.9 points per game, a shooting percentage of 38.5%, and a three-point shooting percentage of 28.1%

The Rockets' current lineup consists of 14 standard contract players and 3 two-way contract players. The standard contract players include: Durant, Shinkin, Van Vreet, Steven Adams, Finney Smith, Jabbarry Smith Jr., Reed Shepard, Amen Thompson, Capela, Ethan, Tate, Okogie, Aron Holiday, Jeff Green

The Rockets have several important signings in the near future: On July 24, the Rockets signed Okogie with a one-year minimum salary. Okogi played with the Suns and Hornets last season, averaging 7.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. Rockets reporters believe that the signing shows trust in rookie Shepard; there are also reports that the Rockets may sign Westbrook, who is willing to join the Rockets with a basic salary of 3.6 million to reunite with Durant; but the two sides currently have differences in the contract years: Westbrook wants a two-year contract, while the Rockets are only willing to provide a one-year offer of 5.6 million. The Rockets' current total salary is about $194.7 million, which is only 1.2 million away from the first tycoon line, which means they may have completed their main signing work during the offseason
