Meng Meng Green couldn t help laughing after reading his scout report before the early draft

According to Gautam Varyl, a contributor to US sports media F/W. Draymond Green has established himself as one of the best defensive players in NBA history, but few people would have foreseeed this when he entered the league. Green’s debut from Michigan State in 2012 was not a highly valued prospect, and he recently read the pre-draft scout report at the time.
"Twinner, for a physical striker, is short but lacks the athletic ability to flanks," Green wrote. "The lack of explosiveness, agility, elusiveness and bounce speed. Below the rim finisher, it's a hassle when you consider his size. It's not a threat to throw his defender off the dribble. The benefits are small. It's vulnerable when defending faster on the perimeter." To be fair, that report isn't entirely wrong, especially from an offensive standpoint. Green was never the kind of person who dribbled against defenders or just dribbling down by his speed. As a organizer, he offers value on the offensive end, and that report does not mention his struggles in that regard.
However, the assessor did make a mistake, that is, Green would prove how good he is in defense. Despite his short stature and lack of elite athleticism, he is able to defend all five positions. Green's excellent defensive instinct is a big reason why he is so good at that end of the court, and this is not obvious in basketball. Green slipped into the second round in the 2012 NBA draft, with the Golden State Warriors picking him with the 35th pick. Even the Warriors don’t think he’ll be so good as they picked Barnes and Ezeley with the 7th and 30th picks in the 2012 draft.
Green's rookie season won't convince you that he will become a special player. He averaged only 2.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.3 blocks in 13.4 minutes of playing time in 2012-13. It wasn't until Green's sophomore season ended that you began to think he could be a valuable piece for the Warriors. Cole was also very good for being a head coach in 2014, as he became a full-time starter in 2014-15. Green will be one of the pillars of the Warriors dynasty as they won the championships in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022. Along the way, he won the Defensive Player of the Year in 2017.
Green was also selected for 4 All-Stars, 2 All-NBA and 9 All-Defensive Team. He is considered one of the greatest second-round draft picks in NBA history, and the Warriors certainly won the grand prize by picking him. While the Warriors' success is largely due to Curry and Thompson, they realize the importance of Green. Thompson admits that without him, he and Curry would not have had the success they are today.
Green's raw stats never show how good he is with the Warriors, as he averaged only 8.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks per game in his career. His games aren’t gorgeous either, but he has been one of the most influential players in the NBA for the past decade or so.
