160 million in 3 years or 223 million in 4 years! It is revealed that Doncic renews his contract by September at the latest, and the Lakers are willing to accept all conditions

On July 12, the NBA entered the offseason. Brian Windhorst reported that Doncic can renew his contract with the Lakers in advance from August 3, but he may wait until the European Championships end in September before making a decision. Meanwhile, the relationship between Doncic and Lakers general manager Pelinka and coach Redick heated up after the end of last season, and James was not involved.

After being traded by the Mavericks to the Lakers, Doncic played 28 regular season games, averaging 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game; in the playoffs, Doncic made 5 appearances, averaging 30.2 points, 7 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1 steal per game. Doncic's existing contract expires in 2027, of which about $46 million is the 2025-26 season, and the 2026-27 season is a player option worth $48.97 million.

Because he was traded by the Mavericks last season, Doncic missed the super maximum salary contract this summer. He can sign a four-year, $223 million contract with the Lakers, or choose a shorter three-year, $160 million contract (including player options), so that he can reach the conditions for playing in the NBA for 10 years in 2028, and thus sign a five-year, $418 million (the specific amount depends on the change in the salary cap). According to previous reports, the Lakers are willing to accept any early contract renewal structure that Doncic prefers this offseason.

When talking about Doncic's signing time, Brian Windhorst pointed out: "The most important thing in this offseason is to renew Doncic early, which can be completed after August 3. I want to warn now: 'He (Doncic) may not sign on August 3. He will play in the Slovenian men's basketball national team until mid-September, and he may not consider early renewal until he returns to the United States. So, this may be a long wait, but there is no doubt that this offseason is not about James for the Lakers, it is about Doncic.'"

This year's Men's Basketball European Championships are jointly organized by Cyprus, Finland, Poland and Latvia, and will be held from August 27 to September 14. Slovenia, where Doncic is located, is divided into Group D, with opponents in the same group including Iceland, France, Poland, Belgium and Israel.
