Vacherot, Monaco's rising star, won his first victory since unexpectedly winning the Masters 1000 title in Shanghai in mid-month. The 26-year-old tennis player lost only four games in a 6-1, 6-3 victory over No. 13 seed Jiri Lehecka in the first round in Paris on October 28.

"Everything I've been through in the last two, three weeks has made me completely calm, no longer worried, " Vacherot told expert Prakash Amritraj in an interview at Tennis Channel's table after the match.

Just three weeks ago, Vacherot was still ranked 204 in the world and could only attend the Shanghai Masters thanks to a qualifying reserve. Now, he is the number 40 player in the world and the reigning champion of the Shanghai ATP Masters 1000, creating the "Cinderella" story of men's tennis this decade. "I feel like a child, amazed to be here. It's wonderful, " Vacherot added.

In the second round, Vacherot will meet his cousin Rinderknech, the player who defeated Fabian Marozsan 7-6, 7-6 in the first round. The two brothers Vacherot and Rinderknech are four years apart, but have been close since childhood, even studying at the same University of Texas A&M and practicing and competing together many times. Two weeks ago, the two brothers appeared in the Masters 1000 final for the first time, creating history for the ATP system when two family members faced off in the cup match.

Also appearing in the second round was young talent Joao Fonseca, last week's ATP 500 Swiss Indoors champion. The Brazilian defeated Denis Shapovalov for the second time in two weeks, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. Fonseca will meet 10th seed Karen Khachanov in the latest match on the Center Court, on the third official match day of the tournament, scheduled at 2:30 on October 30, Hanoi time.
