The Sun: Ivan Toney will have to pay £14 million in back taxes if he returns to the Premier League

On November 21, the British media "The Sun" reported that if Ivan Toney wants to return to the Premier League for his World Cup dream, he must pay back taxes of 14 million pounds.
Last year, Tony transferred from Brentford to Jeddah National for a transfer fee of 40 million pounds and signed a four-year tax-free contract with a weekly salary of 400,000 pounds.
However, if British citizens return to the UK within two years, they will need to pay back taxes to the British Revenue and Customs Administration. If Tony returns to the UK, he will have to pay tax on 18 months' wages. But it was the only way he could convince Tuchel to let him go to the World Cup as Kane's understudy.
Tony missed out on qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, and his time to play on the highest stage is running out. In last week's World Cup qualifiers, he once again missed England's games against Serbia and Albania.
Tony has played for England 7 times and scored a penalty in the 2024 European Cup quarter-finals against Switzerland. Since Tuchel took charge, his playing ranking has dropped. While Toney has been a consistent goalscorer for Nacional in Jeddah, his only call-ups to the England squad came against Andorra and Senegal last summer.
In the 1-0 victory over Senegal, Toni did not get a chance to play; and in the 1-3 loss to Senegal, Toni only got 2 minutes of substitute playing time.
Tuchel seems to have decided that Tony will not be considered as long as he plays in Saudi Arabia, which increases the possibility that he may return to the Premier League in the winter window. Frank, his former manager at Brentford, is currently coaching Tottenham and is suffering from a lack of firepower and has expressed interest in him. Everton and West Ham are also monitoring his situation.
