Echo: Liverpool City Hall lowers the flag at half-mast to mourn Jota and his brothers who died unfortunately

July 3 According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool City Hall lowered half of the flag to mourn Jota and his brother Andre Silva.

The 28-year-old Jota was reportedly traveling with his brother in the Zamora region of Sanabria, when the accident happened.

According to the Zamora Provincial Parliament, firefighters rushed to the scene of the accident on the A52 expressway after the vehicle caught fire. Zamora News reported that the emergency service received a call from the police to the scene at nearly 1 a.m. Thursday, when the vehicle was heading towards nearby Benavant.

National Guard issued a statement saying: "The information we have at present is that the vehicle involved is a Lamborghini. When overtaking, it caused a traffic accident and rushed out of the road."

"The accident occurred at 00:30 in the city of Sernadilla in the province of Zamora. The vehicle then caught fire and two crew members died. "

Since the shocking news came out, mourning for Jota came like a tide.

Liverpool City Council has now confirmed that the United Kingdom flag at the top of Liverpool City Hall has been lowered to pay tribute to the player. The sign displayed in the city hall reads: "The United Kingdom flag is lowering half of the flag to mourn the death of Liverpool club player Jota. July 3, 2025." The statement released on social media by the city hall added: "The flag of Liverpool City Hall has lowered half of the flag to mourn the death of Liverpool club player Jota and his brother Andre Silva."

"We are with their family, friends, and all relevant persons from the Liverpool club."
