Ricci: I think I can help Milan, the center position of the three midfielders is the best for me

Now that you have realized your dream of joining Milan, how are you feeling?

Emotionally excited. I must say, I've never been as nervous as I did these days. Needless to say, joining Milan is an honor, and everyone knows what kind of club Milan is. People have high expectations, and it will be a big season and I will do my best to repay the trust in me.

What are your goals in Milan?

Try to win as many games as possible, and that would be the best thing to do. I wear Milan's jerseys in such an important club, so you have to always try to be your best.

You have rich experience in Serie A and have also played 10 times in the Italian national team. Therefore, now is the right time to join a top club like Milan?

Yes, I think now is the right time. I played for a few years in Sevenbonom, and then came to Turin, which gave me a chance to grow. Coach Yuric and Coach Vanoli helped me a lot, and I was able to come here, and I had to thank them, and all the people I've worked with in my career. I still need to improve in many ways, and I think Milan is the right team to improve me, here you need to compare with the most powerful and important players in the world, and that's the best way to help you mature and improve. On and off the court, I will always be myself, and I will also be on the court. I think I can help Milan.

You have played with some Milan teammates in the past. Have they told you the meaning of wearing this jersey?

The one I contacted recently was Gabiya, and I asked him about information about various aspects within Milan. We have a good relationship, and we know each other in the national team. There are many other people, like Poberga…I have a good relationship with everyone.

You have played many positions in your career. What position do you think is the best for you to play?

The center position of the three midfielders, I think this can best play my characteristics, but I have also learned to play in other positions over the years. I played in Serie B, and I played in double midfield while Uric coached - this requires more to you, and you have to be perfect in every way. Then I returned to the back midfield position in front of the defender, and I think this is the most suitable position for me.

Milan has had many top midfielders. Who have you inspired?

The first thing that comes to my mind is Pirlo, who is the master of this position. When I was a kid, I often watched some of his videos. Maybe I didn’t watch many games, but I remember it very clearly.

Why did you choose No. 4?

I have also passed this number in some national team competitions. I really like this number, which is perfect for my positioning on and off the court. It was a number that brought a lot of stability and balance to the team, just like me, so I chose No. 4.

Can you talk about your private life? What do you like to do outside of football?

I spent a lot of time with my family. Over the past year, I have always focused on what I have to do on the court, I have done everything I can to do more and feel better on the court.

You are on vacation in Uganda this summer, which is not a common resort for players. Are you going there to stay away from daily life?

I have been on vacation in Africa for four years, and every time you come back from a vacation like this, you will bring something that makes you feel fulfilled. The locals were almost nothing compared to us, but they always had a smile on their faces. I think this is the best lesson you can learn.
