Marotta: I reached the Champions League final 4 times & I hope I can win this time. Inzaghi s cycle is not over

3:28pm, 27 May 2025Football

May 27th local time on Monday, Inter Milan held a media day event before the Champions League final, and Inter Milan President Marlotta was interviewed.

Inter Milan reached the Champions League final for the second time in three years. How do you feel now?

I feel very positive, of course, and I feel very proud to represent Italian football in the Champions League final twice in three years. We are a strong and united team who deserve this. This time we hope to play the lead role, we realized that the last time we had a Champions League final in Istanbul was very helpful, and we improved in both confidence and motivation in the next two years. So I'm optimistic about this game and we'll play a great game.

From your personal point of view, this is your fourth time in the Champions League final. None of your team won the first three times. Will there be any changes this time?

Hope you can win this time, otherwise I will become superstitious. Although I am not superstitious, I will really consider it if I lose again. This is my fourth time to advance to the Champions League final and my second time at Inter Milan. For me, especially as Inter President, it would be a huge joy to crown my career with such a prestigious victory.

Inter Milan ultimately failed to win the Serie A championship this season, what are you missing?

While we have to praise Napoli's overall performance, the key is that we have played 19 more games than them this season, which is equivalent to half of the league games the whole season. So from a psychological and physical perspective, this will definitely affect the team's performance. I don't want to blame anything, let alone make excuses. Instead, I have to express my gratitude to these excellent players, coaches, staff. I think I can represent the ideas of all Inter fans, and these people have also made everyone experience an epic night like the ones they had when they were against Barcelona before.

Today, when coach Inzaji talked about his future, he said, "If the conditions are right, we will continue together." What does the "condition" mean by him?

coaches will make reasonable demands and it is normal to get some assurance from the club, and as we have said many times, we are ready to do so. Now we are all focused on a moment that is historical to everyone and then we will sit down and talk. I'm optimistic about this because I have a very good relationship with Inzaji, and his cycle here is not over yet and we have a very good cooperative relationship. I hope we can continue.
