According to official news on September 24, Dutch goalkeeper Tim Kruel, who has played for Newcastle for more than ten years, announced his retirement.

Timothy Michael Krul (full name is Timothy Michael Krul) was born on April 3, 1988. He is 1.93 meters tall. He comes from the youth training of the Hague Club in the Netherlands. He joined Newcastle in 2005. After suffering injuries and multiple loans, he firmly took up the position of Newcastle's main player from 2010 to 2015. Since then, he has been in Brighton, Norwich and Luton, and has become a free agent after the contract with Luton ended this summer.

In June 2014, Kruel was selected for the Dutch team in Brazil's World Cup and made the 120th minute of the quarter-final against Costa Rica. He saved 2 of the opponent's five penalty kicks to help the Netherlands advance to the semi-finals. He also became the first goalkeeper in World Cup history to only play in a penalty shootout.
