Inter Milan and Napoli have a higher chance of advancing to the Champions League knockout stage this season than Atlanta and Juventus.
According to Opta's prediction, the top and runner-up of the Serie A League last season, Naples and Inter Milan will secure their knockout spots through the play-offs. Inter Milan reached the Champions League final last season, with his opponent being Paris Saint-Germain. After advancing to the Champions League final twice within three years, Simeone Jr. still failed to win the championship and was beaten 0-5 by Paris Saint-Germain. Now Ziwo will lead the Blue and Black Legion to make a comeback.
Last season, Inter Milan directly qualified for the Champions League round of 16 knockout stage and ranked fourth in the league stage. But it is easier said than done, and it is not easy to replicate such results this season. Opta predicts that the Nerazzurri will rank 9th and advance to the quarterfinals of 16 through the play-offs.
On the other hand, Naples will be ranked 11th. Although he beat Inter Milan to win the Serie A championship last season, Conte's team still lacks the experience of competing in the Champions League. By contrast, Juventus and Atlanta have very little chance of advancing to the knockout stage.
