Wade responded domineeringly: Don’t care about the ring?

On July 27, "The Flash" Dwyne Wade was a podcast and had a good chat! When asked about comparison with James Harden, the triple crown champion directly threw out a golden sentence, instantly igniting the basketball circle!

"The debate will never end," Wade admitted, "Some people say 'He scores higher, he is stronger,' some people say 'I like his way of playing basketball', and some people say 'He has many rings, so he is powerful'... These discussions will not come to a conclusion at all." Then, he changed his subject and threw out a point that made the data parties unable to sit still: "Preferring the championship and being a great player and brushing out beautiful data are completely different! If I were not so obsessed with the ring, my data would have exploded!" As soon as this was said, fans who understand the ball immediately understood! What is the level of Peak Wade? That is the existence that can beat Kobe at the peak! Looking back at the 2008-09 season, in that era when the pace was slower and the confrontation was fiercer, Wade averaged 30.2 points, 7.5 assists and 5 rebounds per game! This data is scary enough today, let alone more than ten years ago! In terms of peak height alone, "The Flash" is definitely qualified to compete with Harden at any time.

Then why are there always people using data to tell? The most core difference between Wade and Harden is probably the "endurance" and "team environment". From 2015 to 2020, Harden averaged at least 29 points per game for five consecutive seasons, and his ability to last long output is indeed terrifying. But don't forget that in those years, Harden almost carried the team forward on his own, and there was indeed a lack of long-term and stable top stars sharing the pressure around him. In a sense, Harden was the "lonely hero" of the Rockets in that era, and the data naturally rose.

In contrast, Wade took the initiative to give up the ball and data space for the sake of the championship (especially after forming a team with LeBron and Bosh), and chose a path of more teamwork and pursuit of ultimate honor. His "if-theory" is more like a declaration of confidence that personal abilities are not fully reflected by data - it is not that it cannot be swept, but that it is not ambition!

So, Wade's response looks like "Versailles" on the surface, but in fact it breaks the eternal contradiction in the basketball world: ring or data? Team glory or personal glory? He and Harden, one who defines legends with a championship ring and the other who writes chapters with extraordinary data, are both great players, but they choose different paths to prove themselves. This remote dialogue has no win or loss, only a wonderful collision of different understandings of basketball! Dear readers, which one do you have to take?
