July 20th news The Clippers have confirmed that they are seriously considering signing Chris Paul. Earlier, well-known sports journalist Joey Linn mentioned the Clippers' motivation to sign Paul in his report.
Joey Linn said: "When I learned about the situation from sources familiar with the ideas of Lawrence Frank (the team's president of basketball operations) and head coach Tyron Lue, the answer that the Clippers wanted to sign Paul can be roughly summarized into four core reasons, protecting Harden's physical fitness, enhancing the organizational ability of the second team, ensuring the flexibility of lineup matching, and adding insurance mechanisms to the entire team's tactics. This is the key to the Clippers' belief that Paul still has practical value, even if the backcourt staff is relatively crowded."
At the same time, Joey Linn pointed out that Paul is expected to officially retire from the NBA after the end of next season.
Joey Linn said: "Although there have been multiple reports linking Paul with the Clippers' reunion, I contacted Paul's people and the old Clippers' divisions during this week's Las Vegas Summer League, and they all expressed their firm belief that the next will be the last season of Paul's career."
Paul played for the Clippers from the 2011-12 season to the 2016-17 season.
