Comeback imminent! LeBron James is preparing for a five-on-five practice drill

6:54am, 10 November 2025Basketball

According to a recent report by ESPN reporter Shams Charania, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has reportedly been able to conduct five-on-five practice drills in training while recovering from sciatica that affects his lower back and right side.

LeBron James may return as early as November 18

Charania pointed out that James will not participate in the upcoming five-game road trip with the Lakers. The team will travel to Atlanta, Charlotte, Oklahoma City, New Orleans and Milwaukee.

According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, it's unclear whether James' first actual game will be with the team's G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, who will train in El Segundo, California, or whether James will wait until the team returns from its road trip on November 15.

This news indicates that James can return as early as November 18 against the Utah Jazz. That’s assuming everything goes well for the 21-time All-Star.

"Obviously, this thing has to continue to move forward with all of his comeback procedures," Lakers coach J.J. Reddick said, "So we don't have an exact target date. Just roughly within that time frame. Our hope is that he can pass all the tests and be back in the second or third week of November."

McMenamin pointed out that once James appears in the first game, he will officially become the first player in NBA history to play 23 games. player of the season.

The Lakers are off to their best start since the championship season

James played 70 games for the Lakers last season, averaging 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists, 1.0 steals, 34.9 minutes per game, shooting 51.3% from the field and 37.6% from three-point range.

The four-time MVP will turn 41 in December.

James is sidelined with an injury, but the Lakers improved to a 7-2 start to the season with a 118-116 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. It’s the team’s best start in nine games since winning the title in 2019-20.

Luka Doncic also returned Thursday after missing the first four games of the season with a sprained finger on his left hand and a contusion in the lower part of his left leg.

Doncic contributed 35 points, 9 rebounds, 13 assists and 5 steals for the Lakers against the Spurs.
