Hupu, August 29th, West Ham United officially announced the signing of the tall defensive midfielder, 2024 Olympic silver medalist Soungoutou Magassa. The 21-year-old French player moved from Ligue 1 Monaco to West Ham and signed a long-term contract with no transfer fee disclosed.
With multiple European giants, West Ham successfully signed the Paris-born all-rounder player. Magasa stands out among players of the same age with excellent defensive interception, interception and pass distribution, and ball resilience in the midfield.
Magasa, who is 1.88 meters tall, can also be competent for the central defender position. In the 2023/24 season, he ranked second in Ligue 1 steals and ranked first in interceptions and push passes. In the 2024/25 season, he ranked first in terms of the number of ball rights recovery after transferring to the midfield.
West Ham coaching staff and scouting team conducted a detailed investigation of Magasa, believing that he can have an immediate impact and have broad room for growth. Magasa said: "I am very happy to be here. West Ham is a historic club with many supporters and a grand stadium. It is my dream to play for West Ham in the Premier League and I will do my best."
head coach Porter said: "We are very happy to welcome Magasa to West Ham. He is a young player who has made impressive progress in his career. He has made regular appearances in Monaco over the past two seasons, including last year's Champions League and has performed well. His abilities will complement and enhance our existing squad, and we look forward to working with him and witnessing his further development."
West Ham welcomes Magasa to East London and wishes him success under the blood and blue jersey.
