Texas Tech forward Darrion Williams, arguably one of the best players in the transfer market, announced on social media that he had promised to join North Carolina State, the most influential player coach Will Wade has received since taking over the Wolves.

Williams chose North Carolina State and rejected the University of Kansas and Ohio State. He played at the University of Nevada in his freshman year and was 6-6 (1.98 meters), averaged 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists at Texas Tech in his junior year. He was selected into the Big 12 League first team. He also helped the Red Raiders advance to the 2025 NCAA Elite Eight, scoring at least 20 points in the last three games, averaging 23.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists during this period.

Williams' commitment is Wade's biggest highlight since taking over North Carolina State this spring, with only one player in the team's roster choosing to stay in school to continue playing last season, but Wade has now added seven transfer students and two freshmen in the 2025 ESPN top 100 freshmen.

North Carolina State is also recruiting Memphis guard PJ Haggerty, and it is also possible to introduce the shorter North Carolina lineman Ven-Allen Lubin next door.
