Telegraph: Real Madrid has not yet talked with Liverpool about the cost of getting Arnold to leave the team to play the Club World Cup

May 5th Telegraph reported that Arnold announced that he would leave Liverpool after the end of the season, opening the door for a free transfer to Real Madrid. The England right-back posted a video confirming that he won't end his 20-year career at Liverpool like Van Dijk and Salah.

Liverpool was not surprised by the decision and was ready. They were told at the end of March that Arnold would end negotiations to renew his contract with Liverpool. This has been unsuccessful since last summer despite the club's efforts to convince their vice captain to stay. Arnold's destination has not been confirmed and he has not signed a contract with other clubs, but it is clear that Real Madrid hopes to get the 26-year-old.

Liverpool is unable to stop his free transfer and his contract expires on June 30. In order to participate in the Club World Cup that will start on June 14, he may transfer to Real Madrid faster. This requires Real Madrid to pay the transfer fee, but there has been no discussion between the two clubs on this issue.

Shortly after Van Dijk and Salah renewed their two-year contract, fans were optimistic that Arnold might change his mind. But Spain's new challenge proved to be more attractive. Arnold will meet with his England teammate Bellingham at the Bernabeu.
