Xinhua News Agency, Rio de Janeiro, May 25 (Reporters Zhao Yan and Chen Weihua) The Brazilian Football Association voted on the 25th to elect the new chairman. Samir Saud was elected as the only candidate. After the vote, he took office immediately, and his term of office was until 2029. After being elected, Saud said that his priority during his term was to reform the domestic league schedule and financial fair competition. He announced that the state league will be reduced from 16 previous match days to 11 starting from 2026.

Saud said: "Today we started a new stage of the Brazilian Football Association. I am not here alone. I am a member of the team. We have only one goal - to build a new Brazilian Football Association, a modern, highly participatory Brazilian Football Association, and committed to the development of the football industry." On the 15th of this month, the Rio de Janeiro court ordered E. Rodriguez to be removed from his position as chairman of the Brazilian Football Association because he was suspected of fraud in an agreement reached by all parties during the elections at the beginning of this year. The court also asked the Brazilian Football Association to hold a new presidential election as soon as possible.

It is reported that Saud will attend the first press conference of the new head coach of the Brazilian men's football team on the 26th. (End)
