Hupu News, October 13: In a recent interview, Romain Mabie, chairman of the Paris Saint-Germain fan organization Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP), recalled the barbecue party that Kylian Mbappe spent with the fans in May 2024 before Kylian Mbappe announced his departure from Paris Saint-Germain. The chairman revealed that it was Mbappé himself who asked to come to explain the situation in person, rather than letting fans know his decision from a video.

Mabiye recalled. "We were at the Parc des Princes that day, and someone called us to tell us that Mbappe would release a video of leaving the team in the evening. He hoped to come and tell us the news in person first. But we had already planned this barbecue, and after discussing it, we decided to agree and let him come." He added: "Whether it is for communication reasons or not, this is Mbappe's own choice. I am a coordinator The chairman of the meeting is facing a group of people who sincerely support the team. Mbappe has played in Paris for seven years and is a local kid. He wants to tell everyone in person that he is leaving. I think this is the first time in the history of the club."

On the same day, Mbappe appeared with his younger brother Etang and briefly communicated with the die-hard fans at the south end of the stand. "He told everyone that he was leaving," Mabiye recounted. "He said that after seven years in Paris, he decided to join Real Madrid. He thanked the fans and expressed his respect for the club. He said: I want to tell you personally that I am leaving. I wish everyone the best. I don't even know if he has eaten."

A few days later, Mbappe completed his last home game at the Parc des Princes, and the Virage Auteuil stand played a giant Tifo and gave a warm farewell.

Some outsiders criticized CUP's move to help Mbappe leave the team with dignity. In response, Mabiye responded: "I have no regrets and would make the same decision again. People did say that and I accept it. If I had it to do over again, I would still make the same decision. A player who comes out of here and wants to come and tell us in person that he is leaving, then come on, I will not shut him out. The problems surrounding Mbappe in the last few weeks are really tiring. This relationship must end. Looking back on this In seven years, he was a local kid in Paris, scoring so many goals and becoming the team's top scorer. We will always support the club, not a certain player. If we had sided with Mbappe, we would have fallen out with the club." Finally, he added with a smile: "But I don't regret it, and I will do it again."
