Only interest and no action? Milan management has neither courage nor courage

5:30pm, 7 May 2025Football

The roster of directors is getting longer, but there is no practical choice. This is the current situation of Milan preparing for the 2025-26 season.

Regarding who will become the new director of Milan, the list posted in the media is actually getting longer, but there is no trace of the right candidate. Paratic has been away from Milan's sight, and negotiations for another major candidate, Tare, are also indefinitely postponed. Previously, famous reporters such as Dimazio gave news that Milan will complete the decision of the new director around Easter. But now almost half a month has passed, and the media can't even give it a roughly time point. Perhaps just like the club's external caliber, "everything will be evaluated after the season." But how much time can Milan have to waste now?

Paratic, who has been eliminated at the moment, is likely to be angry because of Milan's lukewarm attitude for several consecutive weeks, and the reasons given by Milan (they did not know about Paratic's suspension period ended) made the outside world completely confused; before him, former Atletico Madrid director Italian Andrea Berta was also a popular candidate on the roster. But the Ross and Blacks did not give any practical actions, and Berta quickly completed the decision to join Arsenal. This kind of popular candidate in the market doesn't have time to wait for some procrastination patients to come to chat.

The reason why Tare has become the number one hottest is actually because he is currently in a long-term unemployment state and no other offer comes to his door. Algerians had met with Milan boss Kadinale in London and his chief adviser Ibrahimovic, and it was said that he had a good chat; and after Franny completely confirmed his dominance in management, he also talked with the former director Lazio, but it didn't develop since then. Now Tare has contacted several of the current power figures in the Milan management, but has always been at the chat level and has not made any substantial progress.

The club currently promotes shortlists such as Tony Damico (Atlanta), Giovanni Satori (Bologna), and Giovanni Manna (Naples). But they either have a contract or have clearly rejected Milan and have no interest in showing goodwill. This reaction is reasonable. After all, the basic premise of changing jobs is a larger platform, higher salary, greater authority, and a good working environment. However, which one can this Milan offer now? Milan will not deny Tare now because he is still unemployed and can tolerate such tugs. Once appointed, it is also more likely to accept terms that other candidates will not accept. The example of

has become the norm in Milan in the era of Red Birds, that is, interest has been unable to be transformed into a formal invitation. Everyone wants to get the right to decide in the internal strife of the senior management, but when they really want to make a decision, no one dares to come out and make the decision first, because no one is willing to bear the possible responsibilities after making a decision alone. Instead of doing this, it is better to make so-called collective decisions and complex and cumbersome review mechanisms. In this atmosphere where both internal fighting and past football have to be beaten, a lot of precious time has been wasted. Without signatures, without courage, without responsibility, and if this continues, only Milan's future will be lost.

The summer choice of Fonseca is another example: he was able to get this position more because other choices were turned away by Milan, or Milan did not actively strive for it at all. Milan does not have absolute confidence in Fonseca. Everything happened after a summer full of useless temptations and endless assessments, Fonseka wasn't even the first second choice for the team's new coach, but he still became the team's final choice. After Red Bird took over, Milan was always slow to react in the market, and the favorite candidates often considered other options after they had become other employees.

Milan has made a quick decision this season, that is, when the winter window is about to open, it is quickly fired Fonseca, and instead it is Consesan. But this is also the result of Milan management entrusting everything to super agent Jorge Mendes when he considered firing Fonseca. He formulated guidelines to make his Concesan, who was still unemployed at the time, quickly become the new Milan coach, and designed a winter window signing plan based on this, with the focus on the disaster loan of Felix. The Milan executives who were already panicked almost completely accepted the agent's plan, and facts have proved that Milan had not gained anything from it. The victory of the Super Cup is based on the original Milan lineup team and has nothing to do with the "big brands" introduced later.

Milan has the opportunity to hire people who can work immediately and have a good understanding of Serie A, but they are still doing delays now. Milan’s current problem is no longer in scouting work, not in connections, nor in databases. The biggest problem is lack of courage: in a system where no one dares to make decisions alone, every choice is delayed until the moment a decision has to be made. Milan needs to make changes, but there must be people who can take action to push them. Milan not only needs a sports director, but also someone who has the courage to make a real choice. But it is obvious that the current position is in a state of not having such a person.
