After retiring, Alonso returned to Real Madrid in 2018 and began coaching the Junior A team, and led the team to win the league and championship double championships in his first season. He then went to the Bundesliga to coach Leverkusen, and in three years he built a strong team with balanced offense and defensive and flexible tactics, leading the pharmaceutical factory to achieve the "three-winning achievements" of the Bundesliga, the German Cup and the German Super Cup, winning wide recognition and is considered to be one of the most promising young coaches in today's football world.

Real Madrid Chairman Florentino will hold an inauguration ceremony for Alonso at Real Madrid Sports City at 12:30 noon on May 26 (18:30 on May 27) and officially sign the contract. After the ceremony, Alonso will attend the press conference and accept questions from the media as Real Madrid coach for the first time.
