Giroud: Forward Drapp must withstand the pressure and be confident

4:40pm, 15 June 2025Football

Turning Net reported on June 15 that before the Los Angeles FC is about to play against Chelsea in the Club World Cup, Giroud talked about Chelsea's new No. 9 Drapp in an interview. Giroud recalled by his own experience: "When I signed AC Milan, Maldini asked me, 'Are you sure you want to wear No. 9? Because this number feels a bit cursed.' And I responded that my performance was not determined by the number on my back. As it turned out, I performed quite well in Milan."

Giroud emphasized that the forward position seems to be incredible, but in fact it is extremely demanding. "The striker is the best position on the field, but the requirements are also very high. When things go well, you are the focus, and when you can't score, you are the first person to be questioned," he said.

For Drapp, Giroud gave his own advice: "As a striker, you need to show some of your personality and psychological strength, and even in difficult times, you must maintain confidence and continue to work hard. On the football field, it is normal to have ups and downs in form, and you have to be mentally prepared in advance. As for Drapp, he is talented and as long as he has a good mentality, I firmly believe that he will make a difference in Chelsea."

As a new force in Chelsea's forward line, Drapp has attracted much attention since joining. He is full of energy on the court, has a flexible running position, and has a strong sense of smell in front of the goal. However, it takes time to first enter a wealthy family and adapt to the new environment and integrate into the team's tactical system. Giroud's remarks undoubtedly provide Drapp with valuable experience, hoping that the young striker can shine at Chelsea and prove himself on a stage like the Club World Cup.
