November 25th: In the fifth round of the UEFA Champions League, Arsenal will face Bayern, who are also in hot form, at the Emirates Stadium. Before this game, Gunners winger Eze, who had just scored a hat-trick in the North London Derby, was interviewed by UEFA's official website. He talked about related topics.
On the long journey to become a member of the Arsenal first team
At the beginning, I felt a sense of relief that this was actually happening. Now I have the opportunity to settle down and play well and show what I can do. From the moment I started my career, I always dreamed of playing for Arsenal. To be able to get this opportunity, to earn this position through hard work, is a gift from God to me and I am very grateful for it. I'm going to give it my all because being here means a lot. And it’s not just for me, Arsenal is bigger than me.
As someone who loves Arsenal, it’s very special to be here. But, I know there's still a long way to go, a lot of work to do, a lot of goals to achieve, and that's what I'm focused on right now, and it's just not in my character to be happy just because I'm here.
About my first season in the Champions League
Participating in the Champions League is another goal of mine, and I am already very grateful to be able to participate. But in the competition, I am not just satisfied with participating, I also want to win the championship. This is the mentality of the club and the team, we want to win every game.
The first time I played, I didn't even notice the Champions League theme song playing because I was so focused on the game. It wasn’t until my second time on the bench that I truly appreciated the music and the Champions League stage. It felt very special to hear that song and be a part of it. This is an opportunity to showcase my talents.
On the progress made under Arteta
I have grown a lot as a player, both technically and in my mindset. Arteta's energy keeps me moving forward and always striving for better, and the environment he creates is very special.
The first time I spoke to Arteta, I knew what kind of person he was. You can see his energy, passion and desire to win. This spirit is contagious and I’m grateful to be a part of it, and that’s all I could hope for. Being part of this growing and improving team is exactly what I wanted.
What's unique about this Arsenal
Our belief and attention to detail is something I've never experienced before. We were confident in whatever we did and that resulted in a great performance. Although the outcome is unknown, we gave ourselves the best chance and I don’t think that can be done easily. That belief comes from everyone on the team and ultimately from the head coach. When everyone works together, this force is very powerful.
