Diogo Jota: Great player on the court, noble soul outside the court

The sad news comes from the football world. Diogo Jota, Liverpool's main striker and Premier League champion, died in a car accident in the early morning of July 3, 2025. He is only 28 years old.
Diogo Jota's departure was not only surprising, but also felt so bitter. Why? The Portuguese player is at the top of his career, just won the Premier League title and is enjoying his happiness as Rut Cardoso's husband and father of three.
However, fate has other arrangements. The football world is now immersed in grief – not only losing a talented player, but also a humble and caring person.
Unpublic charity
Behind the spotlight and the hustle and bustle of the stadium, Diogo Jota is known for his warm and kind personal image.
One of the recent re-popular stories was his action in 2021, when he sent a personal video message to Liam, a little boy who was struggling with illness.
Diogo Jota took the time to record encouragement messages in a busy day without publishing or displaying.
"Hello, Liam," he said in the video. "I know you're going through a tough time. But remember that all your supporters in Liverpool will always support you, just as you always support us."
Diogo Jota's advice
Jota also gave a simple but meaningful advice: "I'm not an expert, but when I'm in trouble, I always follow the doctor's advice and follow their requests... Hopefully we'll meet at Anfield as soon as possible."
Sty Davis , Liam's father and a young coach, shared the video with a touching title:
"Diogo Jota took the time to send this message when my kid was at its lowest point. It meant everything. I wanted to thank him in person, but there was no chance now."
The greater legacy than football
Jota has indeed achieved brilliant achievements on the Green Field - important goals, trophys and heroic moments with Liverpool. However, what is most memorable is his attitude towards being a human being.
He actively supports the LFC Foundation, participates in local initiatives, and is often selfless in helping without asking for rewards. In an era when good deeds are often shown on social media, Diogo Jota chose to do good sincerity—without any falsehood.
The world may have lost a football star, but what is even more sad is the loss of a father, husband and kind person. Diogo Jota's life story may end prematurely, but his humility, generosity and sincerity will be remembered forever.
