Bee coach: We have done a good job in defense, and few people can get the ball Haaland

6:05am, 6 October 2025Football

Hupu reported on October 6 that in the Premier League, Manchester City 1-0 Brentford. After the game, Brentford coach Keith Andrew attended the press conference.

Do you think the team will be able to equalize the score until the end?

Yes, I think this is possible. I am proud of the team's performance in the second half. They are very strong, desire to win and fighting spirit, which makes the opponent feel a lot of pressure.

There are not many opportunities for both sides in this game, which can limit Manchester City and make them not have many scoring opportunities. Our defense has been done well.

But in the end, Haaland's goal - few forwards in world football could score such a goal - became the winner.

Since you played so well in the second half, would you regret not being able to keep up with the pace in the first half? Or is it that the passiveness in the first half actually reflects how strong Manchester City is?

I do hope to put more pressure on Manchester City's possession in the first half. In fact, we only made a little adjustment, such as letting Yamo and Chris take a little prerequisite to squeeze the opponent's space, which gives us a more proactive platform and allows us to be more aggressive.

After the players feel this change, they are more confident to attack their opponents, and their opponents will feel pressured, so we can take the opportunity to control the rhythm - this is what it is in the second half.

Manchester City controlled the game in the first half, which was their strength for many years. Most of their offense was on the periphery of our defense and did not really break through us. Apart from that goal, there was another time when Ryers' volley was saved by the goalkeeper, which was not a big threat at other times. But the second half was completely our time and the team performed well.

Can you evaluate Jordan Henderson's performance today? Why did he replace him? And how do you think he is in his current state?

Henderson is in good shape now. Anyone who watched the game could see his ability - commanding his teammates, actively stealing, and passing a wide range. Since he joined, it has helped the team a lot.

But we also need to see that playing against a team like Manchester City requires extremely high physical fitness, so we replaced three midfielders, including him, and we did the same in the game last weekend.

Our lineup is very deep and will definitely make the most of this. Faced with top teams, physical fitness is the key.

The team performed so well in the second half, and the fans were very enthusiastic - what did you say to the players during the break?

I told them to "believe that you can do it." I studied all the games of Manchester City this season and found that every opponent has moments that can make Manchester City feel uneasy, even the 1-0 game against Monaco in the middle of the week.

So I just made some minor adjustments, and more to give them confidence: don’t be afraid of “hard work”, because most teams have to go through difficult times when playing against Manchester City. The key is to grit their teeth and persevere and be selfless on the court. The substitutes were also prepared, and they did have a great impact on the game after they came on the court. Although

lost, the team showed a very positive resilience.

Do you think the resilience shown by the team today is in line with your expectations for this team?

I think so. This team has always been not lacking in fighting spirit, and we are working hard to unite the team and the club - after all, there have been many changes in the team in the summer, and it is still in the running-in stage.

The team's progress can be seen by the performance of the top opponents in the second half of today. Of course, there will always be times when the game is not as expected, but the reality is that we are still building a tacit understanding on and off the court, including cooperation between the coaching staff and the players.

But what I can be sure of is that the connection between the team and the fans has been established, and they understand our current stage and goals.
