November 20th Sam Allardyce recently talked about the issue of competing for the Premier League title.
Allardyce said: "Arteta is now mature enough, the club and the team are progressing, and the board of directors has been supporting him. This shows that success takes time, maybe five or six years. But I think this is the year that belongs to Arsenal and Arteta."
While supporting the British Heart Foundation's "Every Minute Matters" campaign, Allardyce explained why he believes Arsenal can win the Premier League title for the first time since the 2003-04 season.
"Manchester City is still in a transition period, and Liverpool has encountered problems integrating new players. No matter how much money you spend, it is extremely difficult for new players to adapt to a new culture and environment. Obviously, this causes problems for them."
Manchester City has conceded 17 goals in the first 11 Premier League games, while Arsenal has only conceded 5 goals, two of which were lost in the recent draw with Sunderland.
Allardyce emphasized: "You can talk about goals, but unless you have an excellent defensive record, it doesn't matter. If you have the best defense in the league, it means you can regain the ball faster and be more creative."
For Allardyce is not worried about Gabriel being sidelined for several weeks due to injury. He said: "Arteta's lineup depth is better than ever. They now have enough experience and strength."
Arsenal has a crucial year and is expected to win the Premier League championship. Allardyce believes that this is Arsenal's year for two reasons: first, they have a wealth of offensive options and scoring capabilities, and second, their defense has always been among the best in the league.
Allardyce also mentioned the thrilling moment Fabrice Muamba suffered a cardiac arrest during the 2012 FA Cup match. Muamba's heart stopped beating for 78 minutes, but through timely cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation, he eventually made a full recovery. Allardyce stressed that grassroots football teams often do not have a medical team on site, so amateur players need to master CPR and use defibrillators.
"Many people still believe that only medical professionals can administer first aid, but this is not correct. Anyone can learn these life-saving skills and have the confidence to take action if someone collapses."
Allardyce called on all grassroots footballers to take 15 minutes to learn CPR and use a defibrillator through RevivR, a free online tool provided by the British Heart Foundation.
