There are still more than half a month left. After a long break, the new season of CBA will finally kick off again. In the new season of the league, many adjustments have been made in terms of game time and other aspects.
However, no matter what changes are made, foreign aid is the most important part of CBA. The performance of foreign aid will directly affect the team's final record.
Since the end of October, each team has successively officially announced its foreign aid candidates. In addition to many old faces who have played in the CBA for many years, there is a lot of new blood injected this year.
Ningbo officially announced recently that the team has signed a contract with KJ Martin, and he will play on behalf of the team in the new season. At first glance, I believe everyone will feel very unfamiliar with this name, but his father and old fans must be very familiar with it, that is the former NBA No. 1 pick - Kenyon Martin.

Although he is the son of the No. 1 pick, Martin did not receive much attention before participating in the draft. His talents and abilities are incomparable to those of his father. In the ESPN ratings that year, Martin Jr. was ultimately only a three-star high school student.
In order to participate in the NBA draft as early as possible, Martin Jr. chose IMG Academy. In the summer of 2020, he embarked on the draft road with full enthusiasm, and was eventually selected by the Rockets with the 52nd overall pick in the second round (the Houston Rockets traded the draft rights of the Sacramento Kings).

In his rookie season, he played 45 games for the Rockets, averaging 9.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game, and his shooting percentage remained above 50%. Such data is already a very good answer for a substitute.
Seeing that Martin Jr. was performing well, the Rockets, who were undergoing a comprehensive reconstruction, chose to give him more playing time. So in the third year of his career, he played 82 full games for the team, 49 of which were as starters.
But his data improvement was not obvious. He averaged 12.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game, and his three-point shooting percentage was only a little over 30%. At that time, the Rockets had selected several young people with outstanding potential through bad selection, so Martin became an abandoned target.

After leaving the Rockets, Martin Jr. joined the Clippers, 76ers, Jazz and other teams, but he was unable to perform well enough.
He only played 19 games for the Jazz last season, and no one was interested in him during the offseason. Unable to continue playing in the NBA, Martin could only turn his attention to overseas leagues. After various trade-offs, he finally chose to become a member of the CBA.
In addition to salary and other aspects, there is another very important reason for Martin to join the CBA League. That is his father Kenyon Martin once played in the CBA.

In the 2011-12 season, Kenyon Martin briefly played in the CBA League, when he joined the Xinjiang team. He played 12 games for the team and scored a total of 167 points, 116 rebounds, 22 assists, 10 steals and 7 blocks. Overall, his performance was very good.
Now Martin has chosen to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a member of the CBA League. But I believe his ultimate goal is the same as his father, which is to perform well here and strive to return to the NBA as soon as possible.
