The right way of playing, Gordon praised Westbrook s assist to win the ball, the Nuggets narrowly beat the Thunder

Aaron Gordon praised Russell Westbrook for his correct play before scoring the winning goal for the Nuggets in Game 1 against the Thunder.

The Denver Nuggets shocked the entire NBA world again after a back-off victory in their first game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night. With about four minutes left, the Nuggets were 11 points behind, gradually narrowing the lead gap with the Thunder and creating a stunning twist in the last 10 seconds of the game: Chet Holmgren missed two free throws, when the Thunder led by one point - assisted Aaron Gordon, who scored a winning three-pointer, his second winning goal this year.

Gordon's winning goal is so bold because the Nuggets don't need to make three points. They were only one point behind, so two points were enough. But in the semi-conversion offense, the opponent's defensive players tend to defend the inside, and Gordon has open space on the wing to shoot threes, Russell Westbrook decided to pass the ball to him, and it turned out to be successful.

Although some still questioned the Nuggets' working mechanism behind the winning goal, although it worked well, Gordon thought they made the right choice-Westbrook made an informed decision to pass the ball to him.

"The right choice is to open players. Westbrook is often able to make the right choice. I see the inside line being blocked. I think that is the best situation we can see," Gordon said in an interview with TNT reporter Stephanie Reddy after the game.

Gordon has made great progress as a three-pointer shooter; the days when people dared not let him shoot a three-pointer in the corner are gone. Last season, Gordon's three-point shooting percentage reached 43.6%. Obviously, his previous hard practice finally paid off. The Nuggets team, which had few three-pointers, hit a three-pointer at the moment when it needed the most.

Aron Gordon and the Nuggets are far from exhausted

Nuggets have had to rely on short rotations throughout the playoffs, and they just had a seven-game series battle with the Los Angeles Clippers. But they did not give up, facing the strongest Thunder in the league, they are now leading by 1-0.

"This team is very calm. Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic, Hall of Famer Russell Westbrook, and Christian Braun who is going all out... a lot of people have come forward. But I think our calmness, and our belief in winning no matter what the situation is, is the key to our ultimate success," Gordon added.
