10 billion deal, Lakers breaks record change! The new boss is rich and has negotiated a Collins deal

12:27pm, 19 June 2025Basketball

The transaction was completed at a US$10 billion, and the Lakers sold most of their equity and changed hands to set a record for the global professional sports team's history! Compared with the stingy Bass family in the past, the new boss is rich and powerful. The American Records also revealed that the Purple Gold Legion had negotiated a Collins deal.

The Lakers suddenly changed hands

According to ESPN reporter Shams, the largest NBA face, the Lakers, officially changed hands, and the Bass family will sell most of the team's equity to Mark Walter, an estimated $10 billion, setting a record for the highest transaction in the world's professional sports history.

As the NBA market value rises, many NBA big-name teams have changed their courses in the past 1-2 seasons.

Before the Lakers were traded, the old rival Celtics were sold in March 25, selling the $6.1 billion that created North American history.

And in 23 years, the crazy basketball fan-type boss representative Cuban also sold most of the Mavericks' equity and left the field.

The Bass family made a profit

, but unlike previous trading of multiple teams, the Lakers' trading valuation this time significantly exceeded the market average valuation.

In the previous valuation of the American sports business media Boardroom, the Lakers ranked third in the league with a valuation of $7 billion, lower than the Knicks' $7.5 billion and the Warriors' $9.4 billion.

From the actual transaction price, the Lakers' market value is close to $12 billion, because Bass only sells most of the shares, not all of them.

In 1979, Bass spent $67.5 million when he bought the team. He took charge of the Lakers for 46 years and set the longest record in the history of the NBA. Now he has received more than a hundred times the return on sale.

At the same time, according to the complete subsequent report of ESPN reporter Shams, the Bass family still holds more than 15% of the shares after the transaction is completed, and will continue to serve as the Lakers' board representative, taking charge of the team in the next few years.

Lakers team reporter Rodrigo Azurmendi and famous reporter Ramona Shelburne also followed up and disclosed that the Lakers' deal this time is completely different from Cuban's previous sale of the Mavericks.

Although both retained some equity, Cuban had no say in subsequent team operations. Participating in team operations was just a verbal commitment, and the Bass family continued to manage the team and wrote it into the transaction contract.

The premium market valuation + continuing to have the right to operate may be the key to the Bass family being able to suddenly sell the team.

Because after the death of Bass in 2013, the ownership of the Lakers was transferred to the family trust, and the majority of the six children needed to agree to the sale.

The new boss is rich

Compared with the "stingy" Bass family, the new boss Mark Richard Walter is rich. Although he is worth only $12 billion, as the CEO and chairman of TWG Global, he manages more than $300 billion in assets.

Buying the Lakers is only a small part of its investment. The company he managed previously already owns shares in MLB's Los Angeles Dodgers, WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks, Billy Jane Cup, Cadillac F1 Team, and Professional Women's Hockey League. As one of the Dodgers' small bosses, the Magician had a connection with his new boss Walter before the deal was completed, so he was very excited after the deal was completed.

and publicly stated that the new boss is willing to invest all resources to compete for the championship. He is really happy, just like Lakers fans all over the world.

It is worth mentioning that during the previous operation of the Dodgers, the new boss Walter provided Otani Shohei with a 10-year contract that created North American history of up to $700 million.

No surprise, after the new boss took over, the Lakers finally bid farewell to the era of stinginess and become a real "big team".

Like the Magic, LakeShowYo also cheered and posted: "Get both Antetokounmpo and Jokic!"

The Lakers have negotiated a deal

The Lakers do have some moves in progress. While the team changed their boss, Jazz reporter Andy Larsen revealed that the Lakers have negotiated with the Jazz around Collins.
