Luo Jianhua, football coach of Jiahe No. 1 Middle School, spent 24 years writing a moving chapter in grassroots physical education with his sweat and love.

In the autumn of 2001, Luo Jianhua stood on the weedy playground of Jiahe No. 1 Middle School for the first time, and blew the training whistle against a team of few people. No one expected that this starting point would become the beginning of the legend.

Luo Jianhua said: "I saw that there are students who love football so much, so I thought I could form a team at that time. In 2001, I have been able to hold on for 24 years from the men's football team to the women's football team now."

In the past 24 years, he served as the head coach of the county high school men's football, women's football and city women's football team. With more than 8,600 days and nights of persistence, he delivered a dazzling report card: he trained more than 30 national first-level athletes and nearly 100 second-level athletes; he led the women's football team to win two provincial championships since 2019, and has been firmly ranked among the top four provincial games for five consecutive years; in 2025, 8 other players including Lei Yangxin were selected into the national training team for Chinese middle school students, setting a new record for the number of selected students at county-level middle schools, allowing Jiahe Football to stand on the national stage.

Every day, Luo Jianhua is always the first to arrive at the playground to debug equipment and plan training content; he is not idle in the office. He will analyze the game video frame by frame and formulate personalized improvement plans for the players. In order to break the prejudice of "sports students and culture are weak", he created the "five-dimensional training method" to deeply integrate physical fitness, technology, tactics, psychology and cultural education. Under his leadership, the players not only won gold and silver on the green field, but also achieved great results in the cultural examinations - 100% of the athletes he trained were admitted to higher education institutions, and more than 20 people entered the "Double First-Class" university for further studies.

Luo Jianhua said: "No matter how hard or tired I think this is a very worthwhile thing."

No effort can reap what you gain. Over the past 24 years, Luo Jianhua has won many honors such as "Excellent Coach in Sports Ethics", "Excellent Coach in the Year", and "Excellent Instructor".

Now, standing on the brand new standardized football field, Luo Jianhua's eyes are still firm: "As long as the children still need me, I will continue to stay here, so that football will become the light to illuminate more children's future." From youth to frosty white hair, he spent half his life interpreting the original intention of grassroots educators, and proved with practical actions that love and perseverance will eventually bring dreams into reality.
