Rashford bluntly states the root causes of Manchester United s decline: lack of long-term planning and stability concepts

Although he had previously publicly stated that he would not say anything unfavorable to the club, Rashford recently became abnormal in his personal remarks, pointing out that Manchester United's long-term chaotic management and team building ideas are the fundamental reason for the team's continued slump for more than ten years.

The England striker frankly talked about the current dilemma of the parent team on the podcast "Rest is Football". He believes that since Sir Ferguson retired in 2013, Manchester United has been unable to establish a clear, unified and long-term team building philosophy and tactical system, causing the club to fall into a "chaotic zone" for more than ten years.

Rashford pointed out that truly sustainable success cannot rely on frequent short-term adjustments or temporary responses. He recalled: "In the Ferguson era, everyone from the first team to the youth training academy followed the same set of football philosophy. This allowed young players to adapt quickly when they were promoted to the first team and seamlessly integrate into the team system." However, today's Manchester United is just the opposite - clubs often introduce players based on the preferences of the current head coach, lacking long-term talent planning, resulting in a piece of paper and a variety of styles.

This remark is in sharp contrast to Rashford's past attitude. He has emphasized many times: "Manchester United is an extremely important part of my career, and I am very grateful to the club and will never say anything that harms the interests of the team." But this time, he obviously chose to express his concerns about the club's current situation in a more candid way.

Going further, Rashford also criticized Manchester United for his short-sightedness in coaching appointments. He said that since Ferguson left office, no head coach has been able to get a full three years to build the team. He took Liverpool as an example: the club still chose to trust and support him without any results in the first three seasons of Klopp's coaching, and eventually won a brilliant achievement including the 2020 Premier League champion - the top league champion that the Reds have been waiting for for 30 years.

"Manchester United needs a clear transformation plan," Rashford stressed, "it must firmly implement the established strategy and have the courage to endure the initial pain. If your direction is always changing, don't expect to win the league championship. You may be able to win one or two cups occasionally, but long-term success must be based on stability and consistency."

This profound and sharp reflection not only reveals the deep concern of a local youth training player for the club, but also once again pushes Manchester United's long-term lack of strategy to the forefront.
